Our Story

Lone Star Guitar Academy was started by Nathan Martinez about 10 years ago from online lessons, to brick-and-mortar studio, to in-home lessons, we’ve always focused on the student and bringing the joy of music to every lesson.

Nathan studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and received a master’s in guitar performance. There he worked closely with one of the greatest guitarists and teachers of all time, David Tanenbaum, who provided Nathan with insights into the guitar and the best ways of teaching those to others.

From Nathan: “I started Lone Star Guitar Academy to create students who love to listen to, play, and perform music. Creating a love of music in every student is why I teach. I love seeing kids learn a song they love and have their first “aha” moment on the guitar. Getting people better on the instrument and seeing where it takes them is why I teach.
